Oh Boy! I just had to share this kiddo with you tonight. His lashes are longer than any I've ever seen...his elastic band wrists and ankles are adorable and his dimples...make you sigh.

When I opened up the images on my computer all I could do for a few minutes was sit and stare into his eyes. Honestly, this kid is joy through and through.

I really couldn't imagine ever saying 'no' to this guy...those eyes would suck me in each and every time!

We had a few changes around here over the Holidays...but I think we did ok!

We went skating and blew our a total of 33 Birthday candles inside of a week! That's split between 4 kids...lots of good food, games were played and so much family time.

I say I'm pretty lucky because I got to head out for a family trip to visit my friends out in Winnipeg! Not only did I get to go for a visit/vacation, but I got to attend the wedding of my dear friend Theresa and the love of her life.

What's kind of cool is that he is an accountant type guy, and so is my husband! The best man's speech was focused around accounting principals and how they could be applied to marriage. I learned quite a bit about the way accountants think! I found myself sitting there wishing my husband was there listening with me, so we could get a chuckle out of what was being shared. And of course to enjoy the yummy food peppered with the Asian influences of The happy couples years of travel.

Theresa asked if I would bring along my camera and document the reception and dance and the details of the evening. More than happy to oblige, I documented the events!

Autumn Family Session Time|Leamington Ontario and surrounding area natural light photographer

Recently, I had the pleasure of heading to Two creeks in Wheatley, Ontario to meet up with the G family for a photo session. The kids were easy to win over, and even dad let loose in front of the camera by the end. He is a DLSR Nikon user and we had a nice chat about lenses and camera settings. Always nice to meet another person who understands ISO and shutter speeds. :)

News travel fast these days via social media - but not quite as fast as Baby L wanted to meet his mom! Born on the side of the road (safely in an ambulance) mom's Facebook status let us know everyone was going to be just fine. Mom and dad are absolutely proud parents and with a new status of 'BIG' sister, and a little brother to teach all of his sports skills to, this family is on it's way to many wonderful memories together!

Total Recall | Pelee Island Women's Retreat 2011

A quick visit to the web page and you will see just what drew dozens of us to the island for Total Recall.

With a theme like courage, how can you go wrong? We all came with open hearts and open minds hoping to learn new things, meet new people and to grow. We had the opportunity to eat fantastic food, to try out holistic healing modalities, and dig deep into our intuition.

This is the first 'event' that I was privileged to cover with my camera in hand. There were other women there sharing their gifts with us so freely, in a way that only kindred spirits can. Playing with the Light

Just a little reminder that MOST of the images from this blog were accidently deleted recently. I am looking at the beginning of the school year as the first time I will have to address this! With four kids around the house, I am bound to moving forward right now - current client edits, photo sessions etc. Once I have a few extra moments, I will head backwards and re-post the lovely images of past clients and events! Thank you for understanding!!

This evening I HAD to get outside with my camera. I realized that most of my camera wielding lately had to do with work. Although there is absolutely no complaining on my part about that - I do need to fill up my 'completely for me creative tank' every now and again.

The light was golden/orange and was just setting in the evening sky when I ran home, gathered my camera and lenses and ran out the door with M. She's such a good sport! Especially when we label it 'girl's night out' which almost definitely includes a stop somewhere fun after we're done.

Tonight was no exception! We went down to Burgesses, the local ice cream joint, and had a little treat! Super cool? Yes! Because I found a five dollar bill at my feet, and used that to pay for our cones! Awesome, eh?

I'm a chatter box tonight. Whoa! Time to post the results of our Light Catching Adventure;

The Tiny Light Foundation is something that I am very pleased to be a part of. The Wallace Family was my first Tiny Light family, and we couldn't have been a better fit. The kids were adorable, and mom and dad were so loving.

Thank you for allowing me to spend time with you! I'm generally not the mushy type, but you really touched my heart. I really believe your girls are very special little people.

I was trying to be efficient and organized and accidentally deleted ALL of the images on this blog. Hy head hurts thinking about all of the time it will take to get it all put back together. It's busy time around these parts, with my 4 kids home for the summer, and many sessions and other activities planned over the next while. Please, check back every so often to see what's being showcased!

Recently, I had the pleasure of photographing a couple who are very much in love. In fact, they have been in love for a very long time! Decades.

I watched giggling and hand holding and cheek kissing...did my cynical heart good!

A year ago, I had the pleasure of photographing momma while Baby was still in her belly.

Before she knew it, Momma was welcoming a sweet Baby girl into her world.

And sweet, she was, so teeny, so beautiful.

Just like we expect it to, time seems to pass quickly. However, looking back, we never see how much our kids change as we're in the thick of it all, and without realizing it, the Baby stage passes, too! Big Brother grew right along with her,and I hear he loves her with his whole heart. He's often a little shy around my camera, or focused on much more important things, like smarties! Don't you just love his priority set? I'm going to begin carrying Smarties with me where ever I go - they make everything better. Right Max?

I am please to introduce to you the cutest, most lively little one year old gal I have yet to meet, and the best Big Brother, who gives the best hugs and kisses to his Baby Sis.

Spring Mini Sessions Sneak Peak ~ Mother and Son! || Leamington and surrounding area Natural Light Photography

Another peak at the Spring Mini Sessions! It was such a beautiful evening, and the light so golden when I met Jenni and her son. He happens to be the same age as my oldest, 11,not quite a teen, and not quite a child. It took a bit for him to warm up to my camera (not unlike many of the male segment I have worked with!) but once I showed him is jump shot on the little screen on the back of my camera, he was engaged.

Jenni, as far as I know, our sons are now 'friends' on x box live! :)

Thank you Jenni & S for hanging out with my in the Back 40, even with all the little bugs. I had a great time, and I love how the light glows against your hair!

Part way through May Ginger Snaps! hosted Spring Mini Sessions! I had a wonderful time photographing these guys - even when the little guy sucker punched the other two before taking off in a swift run!

Jenn (their mom) and I had a nice time visiting after these guys were let free. They were good sports!

Also, I had the pleasure of meeting the girlfriend of the oldest son. She is super photogenic, and absolutely beautiful.

Moms of new babies are often tired, overwhelmed, busy...but moms with two or more newborns are extra busy! Finding time to take pictures on your own is often the last thing you have on your mind, what an awesome image for the mom of these two!

Where are you located, Kim?

I am located in Ottawa, Ontario

How did you get in to photography? What inspired you?

I cannot remember a time I didn’t love taking photos. When I was younger it was always ME that had the camera and I’d have to order up doubles for all my friends. I became more serious about it when I graduated high school and really didn’t have any other particular interests I wanted to pursue. I then decided to jump into a 2 year photography course and was totally blown away! The way light works inspires me. It’s pretty amazing stuff.

How long have you been shooting?

About 10 years now. I started out with film, and just went digital in 2008. It was a hard switch for me; I was quite attached to my film camera. But I’m loving being at the computer now.

Favourite subjects to photograph? Why?

I love shooting kids and babies, but my absolute favourite are newborns. Those sweet little miracles are so fresh. I also find new parents have that love-drunk feeling, and it makes for such a nice vibe in the room. Makes me feel warm and fuzzy.

Type of camera you use? Favourite lens?

I use a Nikon D700 (I LOVE it!). And my favourite lens right now would be my 50mm 1.4. Soooo nice!

(I just jumped to a D700 myself, and also shoot with the 50mm 1.4 - BUTTA! Smooth! I'm in your camp, Kim!)

Studio or Natural Light? why?

I love natural light. Sometimes it can be tricky to work with, but I enjoy the challenge.

How do you manage being a business woman, and a mom? Words of advice for those moms who are also in the photography business?

I’m a mother of 2 great kids and am still struggling to find a balance. Perhaps “I” need the advice!! But the biggest thing I think is the ability to say no, and set aside time for your family.

Biggest challenges for you in this industry?

People with digital cameras. Anyone and everyone that has one assumes they are now a photographer. It makes it difficult for the consumer to find a professional photographer out there.

Where do you look for inspiration?

I love advertising ads. Sometimes you can get some great ideas.

Where would we find you when you’re not busy taking pictures?

Haha, sitting at the computer editing! Or also riding bikes, heading out to the park, watching movies or playing rockband with my family.

Is there a silly/crazy/weird story you can share about an experience you've had while out on a shoot?

Oh dear...well this is not while I was OUT on a shoot. But a million years ago I used to work in a store (not saying which one) and I did passport photos. Anyways, I had this old couple come in and I took the woman’s photo first. I pulled the photo out of the printer to get her approval, and she said she didn’t like it. I had to retake it. Again, she hated it. At this point she pulls out a photo of herself from her wallet, and tells me she’d like it to look like that. I looked at the photo she was showing me, and it was a black and white glamour photo taken of her in the 40’s I’m sure. She was beautiful; reminded me of the young Rose from the movie Titanic. But there was NO WAY I could make her look like that! And we all know passport photos are supposed to suck anyways. But the funniest part was the look her husband gave me. He KNEW we’d never be able to please her. I guess that comes with being married to the woman for over 50 years.

Completely in love with these images I got this evening of my little girl!

Here's a tip for all you parents out there! If you want images that help trigger memories of your kids, if you love watching them play, grab your camera! Get down on the ground and snap, snap, SNAP! Even if the images aren't perfect technically, to your heart they will forever be perfect.

This was about five minutes of our time, and she felt special, and I'll never forget how she loves to jump off the end of the slide!

Fun with My Sweetie! Leamington and Surrounding Area Natural Light Photography

I finally got the chance to go outside in the sun with my camera! Sometimes, I have wondered if the winter melancholy I have experienced this year had to do with the lack of creative time I spent with my camera. I suspect that was a HUGE part of it!

Because today - I feel so invigorated! My little girl and I worked together this afternoon to get a cute little session going.

Ms. M let me do her hair and wardrobe and don't tell her dad, but we even used lip gloss and mascara for fun! Here's what we came up with!

Meet-Ups on Mondays! Welcome back! Today I am excited to introduce to you Rhonda Steed! Her images blow me away, and her creativity is amazing!

She calls Lethbridge, Alberta home. (brr, I hear it's cold there!)

How did you get in to photography? What inspired you?

I took photography back in college with a SLR and a dark room and all the chemicals. It was focused on photo journalism as I was in Advertising & Public Relations. Then I kind got out of it (didn't have a very good camera). Fast forward a few years and I was taking lots of pictures of my kids with a point and shoot. A really close friend asked me to do her wedding - which I did - with a borrowed SLR. Found out I love doing this. Then when we got into medical school I convinced my hubby to let me buy a DSLR. And I've been taking pictures for others since then.

How long have you been shooting?

Almost 5 years.

Favourite Subjects to photograph? Why?

Weddings. I really love shooting weddings. The more I have thought about why I love taking pictures at weddings it comes back to my own. My little sister died the week before my own wedding and that put a bit of a damper on things (to say the least). And now every time I am helping to make someone else's day special or share in their moments it makes me feel good. Makes me do what I needed others to do for me on my day. And in a round about way it makes me feel close to Kelly. Add some great dresses and hair and lots of love and you've got a great day! I also loooove shooting families especially my own!!

Type of camera you use? Favourite lens?

I use a Nikon D300s. hmmm tied for my favorite lens. 50 (love!) Macro (love) and my multi use one 17-55 2.8

Studio or Natural Light? why?

Natural light. I just love it way more. Love the way it looks. And it's a lot less work to set up!

How do you manage being a business woman, and a mom? Words of advice for those moms who are considering starting up a photography business?

Oh man I struggle with this! I have 3 kids plus one on the way and my husband is a medical school resident.( which equals him working a LOT). And it is tough to do both! I try and limit my shooting per month so that I am no over whelmed with work. I just do this casually for fun. And I edit at night when my kids are in bed or during their quiet time in the afternoon. I am not looking for a full time job (although sometimes I think that would be totally cool!) and while my kids are small they are my first priority! This is just something I get to do that is fun!

Biggest challenges for you in this industry?

Feeling like I measure up. And knowing how to price! That is a great thorn in my side!

Where do you look for inspiration?

Every day life. Fashion. Magazines.

Is there a silly/crazy/weird story you can share about an experience you've had while out on a shoot?

Once while I was shooting an engagement session I was up on a chair and I dropped my camera. Smashing it on the gravel. Breaking it. We thankfully had just about finished the engagement shoot we were fine there, but I had a wedding to shoot in an hour and a 40 minute drive to get there. ACK. So I ended up calling my SIL so she could get my FIL's camera (he has a great camera) and she met me half way to my destination and gave it to me. And I tried to figure it out all the way to the wedding, As it was a Canon and I am a total Nikon girl. (The wedding went okay if you are wondering)

Spring Fever Means Football! Leamington Area Photographer

It has been said a million times...IT WAS A LOOOOONG WINTER! This evening we got our kids into action mode by kicking them off of the 'screens' that suck their lives away and invited them to come play with us!

Our oldest wants to play football this fall, and has inspired the rest of our kids to learn how to play, too!

Some Duecks play football while upside down. Big brother just picked little brother up and flipped him all the while listening to his dad explain something. He looks intense, what was he explaining? I don't know, I wasn't listening! Little brother was too distracting!

Oh Oh Oh! Here it comes!

Good effort kids. Kerplunk! No one actually caught the ball. Looks like they need more practice! Guess what, though? They were ALL giggling! When you have this many kids, there's so much room for discord that when you find something they all are lost in the fun of - you stick with it!

Looks like Big Red just went for the ball. It's already passed him and actually been caught already. Timing is, after all, everything.

She's just cute. Check out her footwear. LOVE!

Honestly, when I got to this image, I almost fell right out of my chair! Oldest child seems to have grown up when I wasn't looking. In fact, the other day he and I were NOT looking eye to eye. And I swear, this morning, we were. Just like that! 'snap!' He grew two inches overnight.

Sometimes, we dance. We dance everywhere. In the shower, in the kitchen, on our beds, even as the football is being tossed right at our head! The Duecks are talented that way. We are multi-tasking masters!

Enthusiasm is GOOD.

Ok, dad, what's the plan?? Note Little brother is on the swing. He can't seem to focus on organized sports just yet. On the weekend I was out with the kids tossing the baseball, he ran around the inside of our makeshift circle as though his life depended on it! But he refused to catch or throw the ball. He's apparently a trend setter!

I had a great evening with these kids!!! I love how as they grow, we can expand our repertoire of activities into more grown up fun.

Finally! Catching up with friends!

A few weeks ago, my dear friend Deanna, who I spent every waking hour with from grade 6 straight through to grade 12 (with a few breaks here and there) finally got our acts together and connected again!

So much can happen in a single decade. Between the two of us we have 6 children! If they are anything like us, they will dream big dreams, create loads of fun and exciting adventures for themselves and generally cause a bit of mischief for their mothers.

The best part of the afternoon was when Deanna and I were pushing our daughters on the swings. While the two of us contemplated the way things turn out, the challenges of parenting, marriage, work and family, our daughters were engaged in their very own conversation. I was only privy to snippits but I have to say, there has rarely been a moment where I have felt all was right in the world as I did right then.

Between the cries of 'push me higher mom!' The realization that time may pass us by, but we are creating things like memories for our own daughters right now. That their memories will be so important to who they will become one day, that as cliche as it all seems, the circle of life really is just that, a circle. If we are lucky enough, that circle leads us right back to the places and the people that mean the most to us. The ones that, even after a whole decade of being a part, we can still fill an afternoon with chatter and giggling and sharing.

I should add, our sons got along really well, too. In fact, we didn't even have much of a warm up period with them! Suddenly, they were just off playing and getting dirty (some of them didn't care, others were not impressed with the MUD!) But I think they had fun anyway!

I really couldn't get enough of these blue eyes, the fair skin and the absolutely amazing locks this gal sports! Beautiful!! Every time I have seen her mom post images of her, I had to restrain myself from BEGGING her to let me chase her around with my camera. Lucky me! I got the chance without even getting down on my knees! :)

Just a couple of dirty toes...my son would be barefoot all year round if we let him.

Lisa, can you tell us a little about yourself?
I'm a desert rat, trying to serve in the trees. : ) I dream of being surrounded by my kids, my grandkids and my loved ones, cherishing the books-the images that have been captured throughout this life I live, telling stories about, "back in those days..." Do you think anybody will care about my photos? or just me? Either way, having memories makes me happy.

City/Country of business (or place you call home)? I live in Kirkland, WA but I still travel to AZ for photoshoots in the late fall/early spring (before it's too hot)! Its a good excuse to see the place I call "real home".

How did you get in to photography? What inspired you? My camera inspired me. My husband likes gadgets and bought a good camera-one of the first Canon Rebels. He was excited about the new wave with digital photography and just had to have one. He later took another step up and bought a 40D. I have been the "photographer" for a long time simply because I was the one documenting life for me, my family and my friends. I have always loved photography and started taking classes to see what I could do with all those controls on that fancy camera that my husband bought. Turns out, I like a little more control. :)

How long have you been shooting? I can't remember a time that I wasn't. I have always kept a camera very close by. Shooting as a business... 3 years.

Favourite Subjects to photograph? Why? Well, I am finding that I love high school seniors because they WANT to be there. Fashion, friends, hair, clothes.... they love it all. BUT I really love everything EXCEPT newborns. I want interaction, laughter, reality, etc. Newborns just sleep. All I can do with a newborn is bundle her in real cute textures. I love the newborn shots and admire those who do it well. Its just not for me and my camera. I also love to capture something unique in the world we live in.

Type of camera you use? Favourite lens? Canon baby. I have some great Canon lens and if you ask my my favorite I couldn't answer. Honestly. Whatever I need at the moment becomes my favorite. Haven't you heard the term, "If you can't be with the one you love, love the one you're with!" I have a 50mm f1.4, 85mm f1.8, 16-35mm f2.8, 24-70mm f2.8, and 70-200mm f2.8. I love them all! Today, my favorite is my wide... 16-35mm but that's because I used it to get shots of my daughter practicing her violin and it was what I needed. Canon is all I know-its all I have ever shot with. I hear Nikon is good but oh well. My dad shoots with Nikon. : )

Studio or Natural Light? why? Both? Both are needed and both are good. I am learning that light is light-who cares where it comes from. The main idea is to learn how to use it properly. I would rather be able to use them both-whatever is available-then know how to add to it instead of limit myself to one type. But, ya know... then you have to carry more equipment. I'm just sayin'.

How do you manage being a business woman, and a mom? Words of advice for those moms who are considering starting up a photography business? Or maybe those already in it! As a mom, I have to set clear boundaries and they sound something like this, "Do not open this door when I am on the phone or we will not go to the park when I am done." For real, my kids need to appreciate and respect my work and my clients need to respect that I have a family. There is no perfect way to make it magical. I have to stop working in the late afternoon otherwise I feel that I am missing out on my kids' lives... the lives that are so important to me. The business side of business takes more time than the photography side. For moms considering a business here is my advice... take pictures of your kids and sell them. : ) I enjoy working and I enjoy the business. Business and photography are my passions but being a good mother is too. You can't be all of it all the time. Two words for you.... TIME BLOCK. It is the way of being intentional with your time and sticking to it. Schedule the things you want to do (play with the kids, answer phone calls, reply to emails, photograph, edit, go for a walk, etc.) so you can get real with your time. Block the time. Stick to the block!

Biggest challenges for you in this industry? I think the only thing constant in this industry and in life is change. It is always changing but at least we can expect that... it WILL change.

Where do you look for inspiration? I have some photographers that inspire me-the way they use light and mood, texture and color. BUT mostly I am inspired when I learn. When I am feeling lame and boring and lack of talent, I try to learn something new. Inevitably, something opens up and I have ah-hah moments and I get excited about trying something new. BUT then, the problem is that I dislike everything I have done because it isn't up to par with what I just learned. It is my constant desire... to learn more! I love to learn about all things-not just photography.

Where would we find you when your not busy taking pictures?
Playing with the pictures I took. : ). I love to sit outside on a sunny day, I love to camp, I love to kayak and I love to go bra shopping with friends. If you have ever watched Oprah, you would know that having a good bra is super important and most women are wearing the wrong size! Want to go bra shopping with me? {SIde note::Lisa, I just visited one of her Bra-specialist's Intimacy stores in the States A-Mazing!}

One thing to say to someone heading out and buying a DSLR?
Buy the one I have for sale... that 40D I mentioned earlier! OR, if you are too slow and it has sold then I would say WHAT are you buying it for? How about just hire me to take the photos for you? Save your money and pay me instead. Ok, for real... if you are not going to be a professional photographer there are some prosumer versions that are excellent (this is the same conversation I was having with my husband when he wanted a bigger better more capable DSLR then the Rebel we had).

Happy LOve Day - a teeny bit late...

This weekend I am hosting a Pink & Red party for a bunch of little girls...it's going to be so fun!! Well, the colours may not be all pink and red, but the girls will be super sweet in their tutus...I made the one above for my daughter the other day. She LOVES it and keeps asking me 'when is the pink party, mom?'

Winter Wonders ||Leamington and surrounding area Photographer

It feels like and eternity since I was over here posting images...and boy does it feel good to be back!

This morning I awoke to a bleak and gray winter morning sky...not the one I had imagined for the photosession I had planned. I was expecting sun bursts and back lighting in the sparkly snow! Alas, as an artist, I tend to be able to find the beauty in just about anything, and where I can't find it, I create it.

Today, I had the help of two lovely young ladies! They are trendier than I, more hip than I, and way more willing to jump off a fence than I!

Thank you so much for working with me today M & A! I had a wonderful time, even as the snow soaked us to the bones...I usually don't post so many images from sessions, but I have a feeling these girls will want to share these with their friends ASAP!

I had a bit of an impromptu session with my cousins over Christmas. Like, what? Five minutes, and late in the afternoon when the sun was falling quickly and there was soft snow floating all around us.

Today, I felt like I met an old friend for coffee, when in reality, I met a new client! This woman has had the experiences to cover three lifetimes - and she's YOUNG. She's also driven, thoughtful and gorgeous!

Window Time!

I tend to keep things about Ginger Snaps around these parts, but lately, I've been thinking about that a bit. I will not pretend to be a great writer, or pretend that I have an exciting life that would stand out against any other woman's in this vast world of ours. Let's be honest, my life has meaning, because it has meaning for me personally. And my kids are wise and wonderful and beautiful, especially to ME.

Just like every one of YOU. And this is GOOD. It's so important to find meaning and treasures in our own lives.

The focus will continue to be my clients in this space, but every so often, I'm going to introduce you to a little bit from my corner of the world. Art is Life, and Life is Art. My life affects my art, and my art is my photography. My photography includes YOU!

Here is my oldest child.

His depth is unparalleled, his intelligence far beyond his years, his loyalty fierce with those he loves. And this boy loves deeply. We almost lost him when he was born due to a congenital heart defect, and that changed the direction my life has taken as a mother and as a human being. His experience has taught me to look at people as more than what I see, that there are stories beyond what others share. This is what I try to reflect in my photography.

Lately, he has been teaching me to LAUGH way more than I do!

Laughter and Love!

The weather is so dark and wet and starting to be infused with that familiar icy feeling most of us would rather not acknowledge. Which means, that sometimes, my sessions get moved indoors. Well, this one began indoors and after a while things started to clear up so we headed outside for a few really fun shots.

This is a busy family! 4 kids, the second two are twins...makes for challenging yet very rewarding photography. The acrobatics I get to perform in order to get most of the kids happy at one time, and most of the kids engaged with me are superb, if I do say so myself. Okay, that was just tooting my own horn. Sorry 'bout that! I can say with conviction, that when I got home and loaded these images into my computer, I was very very pleased. As you can see - they were a TONNE of fun!!

Meet O. He's fast, he's giggly, he's curious, and he's VERY hard to get still to catch him on 'film'! But his laugh, makes it worth the effort. Totally.

I was lucky enough to photograph his whole family a few days earlier and had such a good time meeting everyone.

This had to be the most relaxing family session ever. I guess in contrast to a running mobile toddler or two in a row, a stationary 5 month old is restful!

I have to say, this family has a wonderful dynamic, and are photogenic to boot! The morning was dark and dreary and we were worried about rain and wind and cold. But as you can see from the images, it turned into the absolute BEST day to do a photo session. NO joke.

Percy Family!

I have no idea how I missed posting this energetic family to the blog! This summer, when the weather was nuts, yes it was NUTS, I headed out to meet the Percy family for a photosession with their three kids. We had to stop part way through since there was a sudden storm, but we continued the following weekend and got some cute images of the family.

We have something in common - we both are parents with multiples! The busy ever in motion family made me feel right at home. We even found a SNAKE. Yes, mom stepped back, but dad and the boys were right in there. I caught a glimpse of chivalry in dad - he was sweet enough to keep the snake away from mom.

More Mini Previews!!

I had the pleasure of hanging out with a childhood friend last weekend. It was so cool to meet her kids! There is no question - they look so much like their mom.

We met at Kingsville park, and I can't decide if it's the park, or the kids, or maybe ME, but when ever I do a shoot at the Kingsville park, there's at least one child who cannot stop RUNNING!!! See here. This time was no exception.

This little man, caught on way to quickly to the bribes mom and I had planned. Darn. Well, I did get this sweet shot of him. Amazing blue eyes, which is nifty, since mom and dad both have brown eyes!

I always though Sheri was so pretty, and looking at her daughter, I see it's absolutely TRUE!

This fellow, the eldest, is a wonderfully thoughtful fellow. You just know when you meet a child when they've got that compassionate thoughtful side to them, and he does.

Autumn at it's BEST I tell ya! The sun was so golden and the foliage so rich! Meeting this family was a huge bonus.

They are down to earth, and the girls get along so wall, skipping and racing and cartwheeling.

Hey there! I don't get here nearly as often as I'd like to lately...

Fall Mini Session Details!

Hi! It's time to start thinking about the weather turning, the leaves showcasing their colours, and turning back into our homes for comfort and warmth. Before you know it, the snow will be falling! Kinda crazy considering only 4 weeks ago we were melting under the humidity and heat of summer.

Please note, initially the dates were set October 23rd and November 3rd. The new dates are October 17 and October 23rd.

The mini sessions will be 30 minutes in length. They will be for up to 5 people. And will take place at one location. I will send out the local closer to the date based on how the leaves and weather progress. But they will definitely take place in or close to the Leamington area.

Ok, I am working on getting all of the information gathered for you. Almost done. Just going to put a bug in your ear about dates. I will be hosting 2 full days of mini sessions. One will be a Saturday, one will be a Sunday. I will only have a limited number of spaces, so book early! The sessions will be approximately 30 minutes in length and will yield 10-15 images for you.

Sounds cool, right? I know! Plus, these will look great made into Christmas cards (I will have two templates for you to choose from).

This is an exciting event - I love adrenaline!! Look for the official release of all the details in the next few days.

Welcome Wee Babe! Leamington and Surrounding Area New Born Photographer

I walked into the house and started to perspire. It wasn't hot - I was 'on'. You know that feeling right before a race, right before you give that big speech, right before you go into labor? That kind of 'on'. Babies are tough customers. And as a mom, I know how important it is to get perfect images of your newborn. The newborn stage is fleeting, the newborn stage is exhausting. Things get forgotten in the mix of diapers, feedings, visitors...

So my goal, is to capture those little bits of baby that will help trigger those fleeting memories for momma. The teeny details, like hair swirls, and scrunched up stretches and soft wrinkles of skin...I had two hours, took a deep breath, and got down to work.

But really how can I call getting to cuddle a newborn girl work, seriously?! I LOVED ABSOLUTELY EVERY SINGE MOMENT. And can't wait to work with another newborn again, soon!

Enough about me...this is supposed to be about Baby M. What a feminine beauty. Dad wasn't home, but I can guess just by looking at her, that he's been wrapped around a certain someone's little baby finger. Completely.

Oh, and her little bro, he's smitten, too. When he's not busy doing the things little boys do to fill his day!

Welcome to the world, little one. We wish you many joyful memories built and a full and wondrous life.

Explore the Shore :: Discover Historic Essex County!

July 24th and July 25th 2010 were the days to hop into your cars, vans, motorcycles and head out to the county to create your own adventure! My daughter and I had a wonderful time wandering in and out of a variety of venues along Essex County rd 50.

25 different business along this route opened up to the public to showcase the variety of home grown quality produces and services available to everyone. We had the opportunity to taste wine, food, and music, to feast our eyes on gorgeous handmade jewelery, and indulge in a little bit of self care!

Our first stop was Klassen Blueberries, where my lovely little 4 year old chose chocolate icecream instead of their blueberry pie or milkshakes! Head out there sometime to pick your own to eat, freeze or bake with.

The ice cream bowl was licked clean and off we went map in hand! *Everyone who participated was given a map and a passport. At each stop you got your passport validated and after 5 validations, you got to tuck it into a ballot box for a chance to win one of the prizes donated by the businesses.

I was blown away by Viewpoint Estate Winery, our next stop. I sampled some award winning wine, and ate the best darn sandwich this side of Lake Erie! They have a patio that made me want to sit and sip wine all afternoon, looking directly out over our Great Lake. So, we snacked, had a bit of wine, gaped at the view and the fact that all this time I had NO IDEA there was such a magical place around here! Just go. You'll love it.

My daughter, was in charge of the map and kept begging to get to the the next stop on our journey, because she recognized the name of a plant we have in our garden.

Serenity Lavender! Pst...they're on Facebook, too! A nice taste of lavender tea, and the calming scent of lavender kept us hanging around the cute little roadside stand. Take a peek at these products - I could have spent my whole afternoon there, just thinking about all of the long hot relaxing baths I could take using their products. Seriously, check out these pictures below, you'll see what I mean!

We thought we were headed to our last stop along the route, but we got seriously sidetracked!
LLLR Designs had my wee one's eyes gaping open and the 'pleeeeaasssee mommy's!' were turned on full speed ahead! You can reach Linda at (519)738-3294 .

See what I mean, my kid couldn't keep her hands off the beautiful glass creations!

It was a hot day, and we were getting ready to indulge a little. Off to R&R Studio and Spa! You can find them on facebook, or you can call them and book an appointment for a hair treatment, massage therapy or reflexology. Maybe Tammy would even let you wander around in her gardens - G.O.R.G.E.O.U.S. Tammy was holding a raffle to raise funds for the NICU at Met in Windsor - a place that is home to the hardest working group of nurses and doctors around. The prizes donated were fantastic, too bad I didn't win anything! Ah, there's always next year, and who can complain when you're giving to such a good cause?

R&R Studio and Spa hosted a garden party that afternoon, welcoming visitors to massage and reflexology for only $1/minute! As well, Rosemary Heenan worked hard at Hand Analysis - apparently my daughter is very similar to me. I wonder if anyone who knows us would say the same. *wink* It's true! Oh! And there was some yummy Epicure Spice taste testing going on. Little Miss will tell you without a word of a lie that the taco chips were the best part of her day.

See what I mean about the gorgeous garden? There were other practitioners there in the garden, but I had a tired gal along with me, and our skin was getting quite pink from the sun, it was time to head on home.

If you missed the event - you missed out! But, I have a feeling that when it rolls around for it's second annual event - you'll be there.

The Tremaine - Snip Family Tornado Relief Benefit Kingsville, Ontario

Recently our community was hit hard by turbulent weather - to be more exact tornadoes. So much damage to properties and trees. Kim over at the Green Goose in Kingsville, Ontario held a benefit to raise money to go towards the tornado fund, over $700 was raised!! Way to go Kim for organizing this!

I was lucky enough to be there to photograph the event, as well as to donate a mini session to go into one of the MANY bags filled with swag for the raffle.

Melissa and her family were the recipients of this prize - and I was lucky enough to squeeze their mini session in just before her daughter left for the summer!

Sneak Peek Enns Family!

It was so hot and so humid, I think my lenses were starting to go soft! But we kept at it. We met out in the country on a lovely plot of land. Certainly a place you'd LOVE to spend lazy summer afternoons, there was even an in ground pool, although we resisted jumping in with all of our might. And I mean all of our might.

Personally, I can't see a hint of their discomfort in the following images, just a close knit family. This was their Mother's Day gift to their mom - isn't that sweet?!

If you are ever in Leamington, Linda runs one of the best Bed and Breakfasts in town!

On Her Way!

Meet Ms. Epp - new graduate extraordinaire! It's only a matter of time before she is a full fledged teacher with her own classroom, and bunches of children to impart her knowledge upon. This session was one of my favs, simply because she watches Canada's Top Model. I wouldn't be surprised if she caught an episode prior to our time together because she was working the camera babee.

This was also my last photo session down at the Docks in Leamington prior to the tornado hitting, so you can imagine, looking through the images made me a little nostalgic for the more innocent memories this area of our town holds for all of us residence.

Our Launch Celebration Contest Winner!!

A few weeks back Ginger Snaps ran a Launch Celebration contest where we asked you to submit a paragraph as to why you'd like to have a photo session with us. One of the entrants, Marla Dault, sent a lovely e-mail...

'This photo session is not just for me but it is for Delaney and all the people that love her. She is such a fun loving, goofy, special girl. I would like to have some photos that capture her beauty - inside and outside. These photos would be a wonderful way to remember Delaney as a little girl (before she grows up too much). So, that's my reason, short and sweet - just like Delaney!'

I should have listened to the goofy part!! I think, and this is a good thing, that I lost about 10 pounds chasing her around Kingsville Park! No joke! I could see her mind ticking the whole time...well, needless to say, she's adorable, and I am positive that she slept like a log that evening. I sure did!

I honestly don't know who Captain Rex is, but if you follow Star Wars, I think you might...?

Well, this past week was a crazy ride, I had 4 photo sessions in 2 days! It was remarkable! And now I am finally getting through the editing and posting process...so.....meet Captain Rex!!

Our session ended up being a mini session due to my new friend not feeling up to his usual self, thus our time was spent with two feet on the ground while we sauntered around in our back 40.

I Love his eyes - they just seem so much older than he is, and oh so BLUE!

Even in black and white his crisp personality is vivid!

Thanks so much for putting up with my silly jokes, Captain, I really enjoyed our time together!!

Isn't it amazing how this summer weather sort of snuck up on us? I am loving all of it but the humidity. It's been a busy Spring so far and I am looking forward to meeting a number of new clients soon. I had the pleasure of spending an evening with Turtle AKA Tara. One glance and you will know EXACTLY what she is thinking in each and every one of her shots. You wouldn't believe her eye lashes, and her big blue eyes will be turning heads her whole entire life. I just know it.

Tara has a timeless beauty about her. I just love this next image - it could have been taken 50 years ago! Thank you for a wonderful evening Tara! Maybe next time it won't rain on us!

Beautiful Spring! Beautiful YOU!

I am so excited that the birds are finally singing and the flowers are pushing themselves up out of the ground! How about you? Can you feel your kids vibrating with Spring fever? All sorts of energy and excitement that you can't account for - no new toys, no big plans, no treats - just plain old excitement. After that winter, it's time!

I can totally relate! Only, I am excited for a reason, I get to do what I love to do! The best part of taking pictures is showing my clients just how beautiful and magical they are. It's sometimes difficult to see our 'selves' as others do. We all know our kids are the cutest on THE PLANET, no doubt about it! It's just tough sometimes in the hustle and bustle of our lives to take the time to see who we are. Outside of work and responsibilities...the quick glance in the mirror in the morning as you rush to get out the door isn't really a true reflection of you, not even close!

I would love to spend some time with you, to capture your beautiful self, or your beautiful family! Consider it! Now's a great time to head out into Spring - no bugs yet, it's not sticky hot out, the colours are vibrant!

This was such a rewarding experience for me. I felt right at home when I arrived! The calm and obvious love made capturing this momma to be and a few with her first adorable son easy as pie!

If you asked me to choose, I don't think I could pick a favorite, however, I really really love this next one!

I have a feeling that this little guy is going to make an excellent Big Brother.

Can you feel Spring in the air? I sure can - can't wait to start planting things in the ground and watching the leaves sprout on the trees. Our back yard is full of bird song already - it's so soothing.

Very soon I'll be posting a few sneak peaks - a beautiful momma to be belly, and three gorgeous little girls! I had so much fun at both sessions, and am looking forward to many more this season! Shooting in nice weather is always so much nicer than in the ice and snow and muck. See you soon!

No matter where you are, or what you're doing, it's a good idea to get a picture of it! I have studied how to work with natural light situations, and almost never utilize a flash. This means, that shooting on location, like at your favourite park, or restaurant or in your bedroom, I can work effectively with the light, capturing beautiful moments you'll want to hold dear to your heart.
